About Us
Since she was 8 years old, Carol has collected stamps from around the world, and on a variety of topics. Since her pre-teen years (called "tween" nowadays), the stamps of India have always fascinated her. This was also the time period when she got her first "unusual" stamps from Bhutan, Tonga and other countries who issue "shaped", record, 3D, etc., type stamps. She started collecting China and Taiwan when she married Keith, who had spent 13 months in Taiwan as a student missionary before they met. Carol has always loved Cats and Horses; her British Royal interest started with Lady Diana's engagement to Prince Charles. And who doesn't like Disney stamps, especially The Lion King! Her Russian collection increased dramatically when she purchased a multi-volume set in early 2000's. Growing up, her aunt had a farm with Peacocks. She has loved these birds since and realized in 2003 that she did not have any in her collection! That was quickly remedied, and she has since specialized in them, including currently writing a book. These Peafowl are the reason her Belgium collection expanded beyond the pages of her worldwide collection.
In mid-2009, Carol was asked to dispose of an extensive Bhutan philatelic collection of a friend who passed away. After his widow passed on a few months later, his daughter asked that she continue the work. After researching all avenues, Carol decided the best way to honor her friend and get his collection out to collectors who enjoy Bhutan, was to put together a website (her first) to sell his collection. Carol learned a great deal more about Bhutan stamps and covers, have provided a few tips to local stamp dealers on selling their Bhutan covers, and will be on the lookout for more Bhutanese philatelic items for our site (and her collection when she sees something she needs). She has met some wonderful people through this experience and value their friendship!
Carol also collects (worldwide) Test/Dummy stamps, Progressive Color Proofs and Specimens; Chocolate, Siamese cats, Lipizzan horses, Seahorses and Stitchery on stamps; US Officials; and a number of other small topics. If she has duplicates, they will be here. She does have a US collection, but does not work very hard at it. You will probably find more US on our website than what's in her collection.
Keith started collecting after he and Carol married in July 1989, but he has acquired quite a few duplicates as well. A website seemed to be in order to sell our material to other collectors who may need what we have.
Philatelic Memberships
Carol is a long-standing member of the American Philatelic Society (APS), International Society of Worldwide Stamp Collectors (ISWSC), American Topical Association (ATA) and India Study Circle (ISC). Locally, she is a member of the Sno-King Stamp Club (Snohomish County, Washington state), Evergreen Stamp Club (formerly Boeing Stamp Club in King County, Washington state) and Oregon Stamp Society (Portland, Oregon). Carol has also been President of SEAPEX, a World Series of Philately national stamp show, since April 2020.
Youth and Educators
For more than 18 years, we ran a non-profit called Youth Stamp Collectors where we worked with Youth and Educators in the educational benefits of stamp collecting. We worked mainly on the USA West Coast from Washington state to California. We also worked with Youth and Educators from around the US, Canada, China, Belgium, Ukraine and a few other countries through the mail. We set up a Youth and Educators Area at 24 stamp shows along the West Coast providing stamps and material to these eager young collectors. Educators (private and public school teachers, and home school parents) were using stamps in their class curriculum and needed stamps and supplies, new educational ideas and fun projects. Scout leaders, youth stamp club leaders, and stamp show youth area leaders all wanted stamps, supplies and ideas. We provided these services. As well, we published a monthly 6-page newsletter, conducted three (3) annual Educator Workshops (Washington, Oregon and California), Boy Scout Stamp Collecting Merit Badge workshops, Basics of Stamp Collecting workshops and seminars for youth, families and educators when needed, and oh so much more!
There are pages on this website specifically for Youth and Educators. Even though we have retired Youth Stamp Collectors due to health issues (December 2010), it is more than a habit to remain involved in some fashion with our Educators. Guess this is just another way to do it. These areas contain helpful information, tidbits and news, and a few things the Youth and Educators might be interested in purchasing. Of course, anyone can purchase the stamps and covers, books and games on our website.
Happy Stampin' everyone!
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
